Don’t Hallucinate, Just Meditate | Meditation hallucinations

Disclaimer : I write based on my spiritual experience & not on acquired spiritual Knowledge! I may be very ignorant about many technicalities of Meditation, correct postures, correct timings, correct food etc but off late, I prefer ‘actually practicing meditation’ than mere reading books or watching videos and continuing this way, over a period of time, I eventually got one hundred percent sure that only way out is in and that there is much to explore.

And when I say ‘much’, believe me, I am not exaggerating any which way.

Those of my friends here, who are on their spiritual journey for quiet sometime now, will very well be able to relate to what all I am going to write from here on while for others, it’s request to please try to understand the essence of this write up.

See, there are some very sensitive and ambiguous natured issues/thoughts, which have to be understood clearly for people who are practicing Meditation, to avoid going haywire. Even though, Meditation is essentially an individual journey and each one has his/her share of unique experiences but there are certain attributes of changes that start happening inside our body once you start meditating, which are kind of common and hence can be dealt in certain similar ways.

Here  I will be talking about one such issue –  How while on our spiritual journey, many of us end up in our very own hallucinated ,fairy taled  and largely false world  of magic, mystics & imagination as a result of which our life gets as entangled as the maze below :

a5

For instance, we all have often heard these stories that how during meditation we will see bright yellow / blue light, followed by spells of mysterious visuals which you can loosely refer as magical, how you will end up listening AUM cosmic sound and then after few months/ years , there will be fireworks after which your third eye will open and your Kundalini will be awakened etc etc etc .

a4

Please try to understand, there is absolutely nothing called ‘Magical.’ Our unfortunate unawareness, unconsciousness about these things make them look magical. It’s exactly like how a child reacts when he sees a tube-light switched on for the first time, it’s kind of magic for him and hence the be-wilderness.

I am neither saying that all above mentioned things don’t happen at all nor I am quoting that they actually happen. I am not interested in that argument. Why should I? How will all these queries, even if answered, gonna help me in my spiritual journey? I am & I should be interested in my own experience only. Who knows even I might be experiencing anything beyond physical world but I don’t think it will be of any relevance to mention about the same here as my experience is going to help only me to go further, not you.

Believe only and only what you experience. That’s it. Full stop.

No books, No videos, No guru, just don’t believe anything, simply sit for Meditation and realize the facts yourself. Now that certainly doesn’t mean that these books, videos, Gurus are wrong .In fact there is no harm in getting inspired by any of these , but one needs to be conscious of the fact that they might be one hundred percent true or may be not true at all . But it really doesn’t matter whether they are right or wrong, whether mystical stories written in some of the most recommended spiritual books are true or not. It’s none of your business. You should be bothered only & only about your own meditative experience because at the end of the day, only your own experience will help you sail through this auspicious path. Even a Guru too can only show the path ,ultimately it’s you who has to walk.

a6

So please, stop creating any pseudo fantasy world around you, foundation of which is someone else’s experience recorded in literature or visual form. Don’t force your ears to be able to listen any sort of cosmic sound while meditating just because it is written somewhere in some book or because someone else heard the same while meditating. Just don’t expect fireworks. Don’t expect anything. Don’t seek anything.

Then what exactly to do??

A1

My dear friends, just meditate and by that I mean just sit & do nothing for those few minutes.

Happy Meditation!

Please share the post if you find it helpful .

Namaste & Good bye till my next post !!

#P.S. –  Based on reader’s feedback for this post, I will discuss about some other such issues .If you have any other queries, it would be enriching for me to discuss about the same , after all I am too  and will always be on my spiritual journey , because, as I titled my last blog – Meditation is a journey , not a destination.

  1. Existence is fascinating. Even all that you’ve said here is so much noise. It is only when words stop that meditation starts. Whether it’s an inner or outer monologue, words filter and thus bias direct experience.

However, words are necessary to share the possibilities to other people who may not be aware of another way, or to guide those who are unable to walk another way alone.

So we keep on talking until we no longer need the reassurance of our own or other people’s words. Great Stuff!

See I am not saying that there won’t be any experiences ..at the same
time I am not even accepting that there will be any..I am just saying don’t accept anything until you experience it yourself ..it really doesn’t matter whether someone, who talks about his mystical experiences is saying the truth or not , whichever way its not going to help you,is it ? So simply mediate , if you experience something, fine ,enjoy it ,if you don’t then also ,keep meditating because one should not
seek anything (not even experiences ) while meditating and eventually all your queries will get answered automatically.

I agree with evrything you say. There is no spiritual air that transfers to your body. Or noises of electrical elements. I use to meditate and I did make that mistake thinking its gping to be a spiritual interesection or something. Bit yeah you are right. Just sit there and do nothing. Just be at peace with yourself. Be happy. Enjoy the practise. Don’t necessarily believe that you will hv divine intervention.

You are right in what you say. Most of the time we look for so many spiritual encounters to relate to meditating. I don’t meditate but I had once started and I would try to channel some feelings or look for something heard in the air lol. But nothing ever happend. So basically you are right. Just sit there and do nothing. N just be at peace with urslf.

Interesting. My readings offer the guidance to not seek any particular experience while meditating. My intention is to be with the flow of the breath and returning to the breath after I realize that I have, once again, been off on a cognitive steam. Thank you for introducing me to your blog.
