Hello guys ! It has been a while since I penned down my last blog.I just couldn’t develop anything for some genuine reasons however, even then , I went through a feeling of guilt which my regular writer friends can understand , for not writing for almost 2 weeks. It was as if I was cheating in my love for writing.
Nevertheless , here I am with another travel tale to tell .This time it’s about Udaipur , a very popular holiday destination in India which was always on cards but somehow a visit there got really really delayed as we had back to back vacations at hills. It, however,finally happened last year and we were joined by a wonderful couple – Deepak & Shikha – on our wander quest . { Just like the visit, a write up on Udaipur too took me almost an year to develop & post !! :O }
Deepak ,Shikha,Nishtha & your good self (read L to R )
Coming to Udaipur, well it is rightly called the City of Lakes ,for you will find one or the other lake in the vicinity of almost every hotel & restaurant there .Rather, it is the other way around i.e. hotels & roof top restaurants been built along the periphery of various lakes.
Let me mention here some interesting findings of our vacation before I take you in & around Udaipur through snapshots :
#Finding 1 – Choose the ‘Feel’ & not the ‘Stars’ when it comes to Hotels.
Just to experience some kind of contrast during our stay & to draw some engrossing comparisons later, we opted for a routine 3 star Hotel ‘Jagat Niwas Palace’ for first 2 nights before checking into the ‘Trident’ for our penultimate day at Udaipur.
JAGAT NIWAS PALACE , UDAIPUR
TRIDENT , UDAIPUR
Though I am finding it little strange to write & you might find it equally strange to read this , but we really enjoyed our stay at Jagat Niwas Palace way more than that at Trident and the primary reason being the absence of any lake around one of the renowned Luxury Hotels of Udaipur which therefore takes away the charm therby making it look way too ordinary ,especially when you have been staying right into the middle of a lake for immediate few prior nights. [#NotInMyName – Please don’t rule out Jagat Niwas Palace just for its outdated name:)].
See the whole ambiance & hospitality at Trident was expectedly very good- no two opinions about that – but still , you just don’t get those lively vibes of this beautiful city of Rajasthan while staying there as unlike the other options available , Trident is little far from the heart of main Udaipur city.
#Travel Tip -> A true traveler’s wanderlust gets satisfied only when the native colours of the place concerned keeps one surrounded all the time. So instead of playing safe by choosing any luxury stay, go & explore online for better options.
#Finding 2 – Best Foods are often served at most veiled places.
Ambrai, Amet Haveli
We visited all the so called “Best places to Dine ” at Udaipur including the famous lake side restaurant Ambrai as well as much hyped Natraj besides others at Chowpatty near Fatehsagar Lake .Yes , the overall tone & tenor was good at most of these places, especially at Ambrai , but talking about the food, well we found the best one at a relatively lesser known cafe , Brewmen , zeroed in by Deepak { his best contribution on the trip 🙂 }.
BREWMEN CAFE
You name anything – Tortillas , Club Sandwiches ,Shakes, Pizzas – each one was better than the other. A little exaggeration probably , but we kind of found an Urban Vegetarian’s paradise at Udaipur which, however was really difficult to locate, thanks to absence of adequate sign boards.
Fine then , it’s time to quickly take you all on a snapshot journey of the beautiful Udaipur :
Sunset Point , Sajjan Garh (Monsoon palace)
Udaipur City in One frame
Cultural Dance (Dharohar) at Bagore ki Haveli
Garden opposite Chetak Smadhi ,Haldighati
The famous City Palace
Maharana Pratap Mueseum ,Haldighati
Jagdish Temple
Lake Pichola
On a lighter & concluding note, you might find it interesting to figure out that who’s aping whom in the following two photographs, clicked at almost same time & same location :
(Only the ladies themselves can explain what they were really up to ! )
Hope you enjoyed this journey .
Would love to hear your thoughts & feedback ! Please do share the post if you found it to be interesting enough !!

absolutely true , as far culture is concerned, udaipur’s or rather most of the rajasthani people are still deeply connected to their roots ..

Interesting. Udaipur seems to have developed into a modern city since my last visit almost twenty years ago.
