Goa-Here We Come Again
Unlike the last time when we planned everything properly well in advance for our Goa vacations , it was more of a hush -hush trip this time . And to some extent ,it was rather intentional as we really wanted to explore Goa this time as travellers , as explorers who are on their own and not as guided Tourists . And we did pull it off by exploring some really exotic beaches of Goa ( Read here : Top 2 exceptionally exotic beaches of Goa that you just can’t afford to miss ! )
As far as stay was concerned , while the last time we stayed near Calangute beach , this time, based on the reviews available online , we opted for Resort Rio , Arpora – supposedly a Luxury Resort.
But was it really worth all the hype ? Read on for the answer :
Resort Rio , Goa
Location :
Hardly 3 km from the Baga beach , the Resort is perfectly located at a lively area in Arpora with some good restaurants & bakeries nearby . It is easily accessible with lots of transport options available in the immediate vicinity including the lifeline of Goa Tourists – Scooties , Bikes and Jeeps . Visiting Saturday Night Arpora Market becomes all more easy while staying with Rio.
And as a good will gesture , Resort provides complimentary shuttle service to Baga Beach at pre-scheduled timings.
The Ambiance & The Infrastructure
The Decor & the whole feel is quiet good .But since a picture is worth a thousand words hence , rather then getting entangled in the text jugglery , I would rather let the clicks below do all the talking as far as the aesthetics at Resort Rio are concerned :
If you are still not convinced , watch here the exclusive Video that we shot at the Resort :
The Rooms
Resort offers plenty of options as far as accommodation is concerned , right from the luxurious Villas & Suites to the modest Superior Room. We opted for the Superior Room which too was equipped with all modern amenities and was not less in any which way. Check out the photographs of the room we stayed in :
The stay was quiet comfortable and here’s how view from our room balcony looked like :
The Food
Well that’s the one area where the Resort management really needs to look into , especially the breakfast .While the morning Masala tea is decent , but going by the usual standards of such luxury properties , the number of options available in the breakfast are quiet limited . Adding to the woes are the birds (specially crows) which make it really difficult to have breakfast on the pool side with them hovering around all the time.
As for the Dinner , the Resort houses a very famous Restaurant called Jalsa which reportedly serves the best vegetarian food in Goa. But is the food here really that good, well for that you need to read my detailed Food Review Blog on Jalsa listed here.
The Bar & The Pool
There is a fairly large pool inside the resort premises which has been maintained well. Hygiene & cleanliness have been taken care off. There is a full on pool side Bar as well .However , being a teetotaler , the only drinks I could enjoy while in pool were typical Mojitos and lemonades .
The Verdict
We stayed there for 4 days and I must confess , it was definitely among the best experiences that we have had so far with our stays at the Resorts / Hotels .
Exceptional Hospitality , Interiors par excellence and wonderful location – all these factors combined with a very reasonable pricing ( considering it’s a Luxury Resort) makes Resort Rio an automatic choice .
Highly Recommended ! Go for it !!

Thanks Rahul for interesting review. With personal experience and pictures being shared it makes the review more like our experience even though we have not been there. Definitely this is on our list to choose for our next trip to Goa. Waiting for review on Jalsa. Tip: for review on Jalsa many would like to know how they deal with food allergies.
